Button it
I wanted to make Dorset buttons the other day and could I remember how to do it? I went to a workshop eons ago and entering the mess that is my workroom I was able instantly able to put my hands on the instructions. This cheered me mightily proving beyond doubt that once I was organised. However, the camera batteries still elude me. If a Dorset button moment comes upon you in meantime, here's Sister Diane to the rescue.

There were ten in the bed...
There are seagulls nesting on the roof opposite me. We've watched them since they were balls of fluff and have become quite protective towards them. Imagine then how horrified we were when one fell off the roof! It didn't fall very far fortunately, landing in the neglected balcony of the flat below. It now appears pathetically behind glass (in the bottom corner of the brown balcony). If you click to enlarge you'll see. It's parents are still feeding and protecting it so I'm hoping it'll fledge eventually as it's sibling has long since done.

Rust if you must....................
Reminds me of that wonderful poem...
Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
Ponder the difference between want and need?
Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and books to read;
Friends to cherish, and life to lead.
Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.
Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust.

Holidays
Just been on my holidays with some lovely people to a lovely place called Urchfont Manor where much art and craft was made. The group across the courtyard were making Windsor chairs with which I was vastly impressed.
Sideways Aran Wrap
Work beings on the sideways Aran wrap. When I say work I mean much frogging, highlighting, stitch marking, row tally clicking and swearing. Think I finally have the pattern in my head now. It was certainly in my dreams.

Big Read
I've been reading a few books (not like me) in preparation for Big Draw and this is a cracker. If you have young people to inspire - and that includes your inner child - go get it.
What a nit
This is what has been exercising my tiny mind for some time know. It's from the Vogue Knitting Mag...only it's now allowed to be called the Vogue Knitting Mag in the UK anymore. What is THAT all about? They change the front cover and call it Designer Knitting, but it has the same content. Obviously one of these mad things that makes Jif change it's name to Cif.....................or is that because Jif is a swearword in some other country? Well Jif that for game of soldiers!
Anyway, having enjoyed the pain and frustration of this cardi so much, I'm moving swiftly along to another swear maker. This could take some time. Jif, jif, jif, jif, jif.......
